Rs. 1. That published value is what makes the card readable: 5 EDGE Miles per Rs. 100 on travel is 5% back, and 2 Miles per Rs. 100 elsewhere is 2%. Both are high for this catalogue, and the 2% base rate in particular is better than most paid cards manage in their accelerated categories.
Everybody starts on Silver. Rs. 7.5 lakh of eligible annual spending moves you to Gold and Rs. 15 lakh to Platinum. Lounge access goes from 4 international and 8 domestic visits at Silver, to 6 and 12 at Gold, to 12 and 18 at Platinum, and the EDGE Miles credited against the annual fee go from nil to 2,500 to 5,000.
Gold and jewellery, rent, wallet loads, government institutions, insurance, fuel, utilities and telecom are all excluded from milestone spending, with effect from 20 April 2024. That is a long list and it includes the categories people most often use to reach a milestone deliberately, so the Rs. 7.5 lakh and Rs. 15 lakh thresholds are harder than they look.
It depends on the tier you can hold. On Silver the fee returns nothing and the case rests on the 5% travel rate and four international lounge visits. On Gold it returns 2,500 EDGE Miles and on Platinum 5,000, which covers most or all of it before any spending. Axis publishes no spend-based waiver, so the fee is payable every year.
Axis publishes an income requirement of Rs. 12 lakh a year for salaried applicants and Rs. 15 lakh a year for the self-employed. That is among the higher income bars in this catalogue and it is the card's real gate — the fee is affordable long before the income requirement is met.
No. It charges 3.5%, the industry default, which is an odd note on a card sold for international travel. If foreign spending is the main thing you want a card for, the Kotak Air+ charges 2% instead — though it pays no rewards on those transactions.
